ORORA LAUNCHES IT'S FIRST CARBON CREDIT PROGRAM IN INDIA
This Earth Day, Orora Global, Inc. is excited to announce the launch of our first carbon credit program. The program funds projects in India that lower CO2 emissions by building renewable energy powered LED Lighting solutions for villages currently entrapped in energy poverty.
Orora is partnering with Patch.io, a carbon credit marketplace on a mission to reach gigatonne scale carbon removal. By providing a variety of high-quality carbon removal projects, Patch offers businesses the most effective and responsible way to compensate for unavoidable emissions.
Orora’s team of women who have recently been impacted by climate change in the village of Amoor (Trichy, India) have now been trained in electronics and solar engineering for 3 years and can now manufacture Orora’s LED Solar Streetlight Cluster. Each of the cluster costs $2000 and is a 46W LED lighting solution powered by solar power for up to 8 hours. It replaces the use of kerosene fuel for at least 20 homes in a village currently completely entrapped in energy poverty. Replacing kerosene with the lighting solution reduces the carbon emission by 13 tons of CO2 every year.
Our current target is to light up 1000 villages currently completely entrapped in energy poverty in India with Orora’s LED Solar Streetlight Cluster. The production will happen in batches of 100 clusters. We expect the first batch to be installed and ready for verification by the end of 2023. We estimate this project to offset 1 million Tonnes of CO2 by 2030.
Carbon credit programs are an effective way to counterbalance the environmental impacts of your businesses operations. The Patch platform also offers the ability to purchase offsets monthly, quarterly, or annually so you can commit to regularly offsetting your environmental impact.
